WELCOME TO THE CONCERT

FROM FATHER VINCENT FLYNN

At the heart of the Christian faith is the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass: the one perfect sacrifice of Christ on Calvary is  made present and the fruits of the cross are applied to the living and the dead.

For this reason, Christians have always invested time and resources into ensuring that God's House is both conducive to prayer and the architecture and decor provide a suitable backdrop for the sacred space wherein God communes with His Holy People.

I am sure that you will agree with me that St. Raphael's is a magnificent church and worthy of all our efforts to restore her to her former beauty and to build for the future.  Sacred music is itself a work of art. Its development and growth have always been encouraged by the Church and inspired by the Sacred Liturgy. It accompanies the Sacred Liturgy and can assist us in our prayer and meditation. This evening we are honoured to welcome our talented musicians and singers, who freely give of their time and talents so that we may enjoy some of these timeless pieces of sacred music, as well as a selection of popular classics.  Thank you so much for being with us this evening.  A  particular thank you to all who have made this evening possible and indeed so very special.

Wishing you every blessing,

Fr.  Vincent
