LENTEN PROJECTS OVER THE YEARS
LET THE CHILDREN LIVE! - SUPPORTING THE STREET CHILDREN OF COLUMBIA
THE PASSAGE - HELPING HOMELESS PEOPLE IN LONDON
The Passage Day Centre continues to provide a safe, warm environment offering food, clothing, laundry etc. In additional, it runs specialist services, including housing and benefit advice, health work and education. Passage House provides overnight accommodation for 53 people who would otherwise be sleeping on the streets, and it is full every night. Although 43% of the costs are covered by Government Grants, the Passage relies for the remainder on donations.
LOCAL HOSPITAL AND OUR LOCAL SCHOOL
We ran two projects in parallel during 2002:
(1) Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability - a national medical charity.
(2) St Joseph's - our parish school: project to establish a small chapel.
We raised a total of £1,750. A partial breakdown is as follows:
"AID TO THE CHURCH IN NEED"
CHURCH RESTORATION
LET'S RESTORE OUR BEAUTIFUL CHURCH
KINGSTON CHURCHES ACTION ON HOMELESSNESS
St. Raphael Fundraising programme
KINGSTON CHURCHES ACTION ON HOMELESSNESS
HELPING THE HOMELESS IN KINGSTON
No one should be forced out of our area through housing difficulties and low income
KINGSTON STREET PASTORS
Help and safety on the streets of Kingston at night
This year St Raphael’s Church and St Joseph’s school are working together to raise funds for a special group of children living in Udavum Karangal (Helping Hands) which is based in India. One of St Joseph’s parents visited the orphanage last year and brought their need to our attention.
