OUR PRAYERS     ................this moment belongs to God

"We must remember God more often than we draw breath."

But we cannot pray at all times if we do not pray at specific times, consciously willing it.

These are the special times of Christian prayer, both in intensity and duration.....

PRAYER IS THE LIFE OF THE NEW HEART

Learning Christ

In all the events of my life –Teach me, my Lord, to be sweet and gentle in disappointments,

in the thoughtlessness of others, in the insecurity of those I trusted,

in the unfaithfulness of those on whom I relied.

Let me put myself aside, to think of the happiness and well-being of others,

to hide my pains and heartaches, so that I may be the only one to suffer from them.

Teach me to profit by the suffering that comes across my path.

Let me so use it that it may mellow me,

not harden nor embitter me;

that it may make me patient, not irritable;

that it may make me broad in my forgiveness, not narrow, haughty and overbearing.

May no one be less good for having come within my influence; no one less pure, less true, less kind,

less notable for having been a fellow-traveller in our journey towards eternal life.

As I go my rounds from one distraction to another, let me whisper a word of love to you.

May my life be lived in the supernatural, full of power for good and strong in its purpose for good,

and strong in its purpose for sanctity.

Trust in God

My God, you have created me to do you some definite service.

You have given some definite work to me which you have not given to any other.

I have my place in your plan.

I may never know what it is in this life, but I will be told it in the next.

Therefore, I will trust you in all things.

If I am sick, my sickness may serve you.

If I am worried, my worry may serve you.

You do nothing in vain.

You know what you are doing.

You may take away my friends.

You may put me among strangers.

You may make me feel forgotten.

You may make my spirits sink.

You may hide my future from me.

Still You know what you are doing and I trust you.

Amen

"Lord, my heart is restless until it rests in you.

Help me to live in your presence and in the knowledge of your great love for me.

And help me to offer to you what you desire

rather than what I want."
