MAUNDY THURSDAY
The day
before he suffered to save us and all humanity, he took bread in his sacred hands and
looking up to heaven to you, his almighty Father, he gave you thanks and praise.
He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples and said:
Take this all of you and eat it: this is my body which will be given up for you.
When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave you thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples and said:
Take this, all of you , and drink from it: this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and ever lasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.
Jesus took a towel and tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and dry them with the towel around his waist. He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, "Master, are you going to wash my feet?" Jesus answered and said to him, "What I am doing, you do not understand now, but you will understand later." Peter said to him, "You will never wash my feet." Jesus answered him, "Unless I wash you, you will have no inheritance with me."
Then they came to a place named Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, "Sit
here while I pray." He took with him Peter, James, and John, and began to
be troubled and distressed. Then he said to them, "My soul is
sorrowful
