DEGRADING ADVERTISING POSTERS

Occasionally one sees a poster that contains inappropriate pictures or language.

The first principle of the Committee of Advertising Practice CAP reads:-

‘All marketing communications should be legal, decent, honest and truthful.’

CAP clarifies other principles that include:

2.2

(ADVERTISING CODE - Principles)

All advertisements should be prepared with a sense of responsibility to consumers and to society.

5.1

(ADVERTISING CODE - Decency)

Advertisements should contain nothing that is likely to cause serious or widespread offence. Particular care should be taken to avoid causing offence on the grounds of race, religion, sex, sexual orientation or disability. Compliance with the Codes will be judged on the context, medium, audience, product and prevailing standards of decency.

We believe that it is important to complain about an advert that undermines Christian family values or that is simply indecent.  St Raphael’s very much welcomes your support to address these issues.

If you find an advert unacceptable please write to:

Advertising Standards Authority
2 Torrington Place
London WC1E 7HW

Or use the ASA complaint form at:
